This Glen Moray was bottled by A.D. Rattray, a 15 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask 5462, bottled at 59.6%, one of 191 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.

The spirit was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.

At its natural 59.6% it is concentrated. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
