From the Glasgow bottler North Star Spirits, a 14 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2007, bottled at 51%, one of 280 bottles. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.

It was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore.

At cask strength 51% it is full bodied. Green apple, honey and a gentle oak, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is an approachable Speyside single malt from Elgin.
