Description
This Glen Moray was bottled by the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, a 13 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 7033294, bottled at 51.5%, one of 76 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.
The spirit was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building a light, accessible character of orchard fruit and vanilla. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and pear. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit.
Bottled at a cask strength 51.5%, it is rich. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
