Description
This Glen Moray was bottled by Archives, a 13 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask 5952, bottled at 58.8%, one of 192 bottles. Glen Moray is a fruity Speyside malt made on River Lossie water at Elgin. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
Distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.
At its natural 58.8% it is concentrated. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
