Description
A 12 year old Glen Moray from the London house Berry Bros and Rudd, distilled in 2008, bottled at 46%, one of 873 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
It was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes.
At an approachable 46% it is light and easy. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is an approachable Speyside single malt from Elgin.
