A 12 year old Glen Moray from the Campbeltown house Cadenhead, distilled in 1992, bottled at 61%, one of 282 bottles. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.

It was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the light, fruity spirit growing rounder. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.

At a hearty 61% it carries real weight. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. Apple, pear and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
