Description
The bottler whic - Whiskycircle bottled this Glen Moray, an 11 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask 5307, bottled at 61.9%, one of 227 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside malt from Elgin, the heart of the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
Worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make.
At cask strength 61.9% it is full bodied. A light, orchard fruit and toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
