Description
A 10 year old Glen Moray from the Glasgow bottler Douglas Laing, distilled in 2008, from cask DL 12985, bottled at 66.7%, one of 596 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.
It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. Maturation finished in an Oloroso cask, layered over the light Glen Moray make. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.
At its natural 66.7% it is concentrated. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
