From Meadowside Blending, a 10 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2007, from cask 702, bottled at 57.7%, one of 678 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt and a pioneer of wine cask finishing. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.

Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It was finished in a Moscatel cask, the wood layered over the light malt. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the body softer and the fruit riper. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.

At its natural 57.7% it is concentrated. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a grapey, floral sweetness from the cask. The mouthfeel is light, the fruit carried on a clean body. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Moray, a pioneer of cask finishing.
