A 32 year old Glen Mhor from the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, 1975, at 40.6%. Orchard fruit and a waxy, oily body. Its worm tubs gave the full, oily body Glen Mhor was known for. Its water came from Loch Ness, the spirit cooled in worm tubs. One of three Inverness distilleries, with Glen Albyn and Millburn, all now gone. This is a rare single malt, silent since 1983.

Description
A Glen Mhor of a 32 year old chosen by the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, distilled in 1975, from cask 4041, bottled at 40.6%, one of 148 bottles. Glen Mhor ran on Loch Ness water in Inverness for over ninety years before closing in 1983. Mackinlay and Birnie went on to buy the neighbouring Glen Albyn in 1920.
This was distilled slow in the Inverness stillhouse, the worm tubs lending weight, for a rich, oily make of orchard fruit and a waxy weight. Decades in ex-Bourbon oak drew out vanilla and a waxy, oily depth. In its ethereal years the malt is waxy and oxidative, faded esters and a touch of sotolon (maple, dried fig). The worm tubs gave a full, oily spirit, less copper contact leaving real weight in the make. It passed to the Distillers Company in 1972 and was closed in 1983. Refill oak lets the full, oily Glen Mhor character lead the way. The oily, waxy texture is a mark of well aged Glen Mhor. No new spirit will follow it, the Inverness stills cold since 1983.
At 40.6%, undiluted, it is deep and waxy. Apple, beeswax and a soft oil, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a polished oak give it depth. The finish runs oily, full and warming. This is a single malt from one of the lost Inverness distilleries.
