This Glen Mhor was bottled by the Glasgow bottler Douglas Laing, a 27 year old, at 50%. Pear, beeswax and a rich oil fill the glass. One of three Inverness distilleries, with Glen Albyn and Millburn, all now gone. Its worm tubs gave the full, oily body Glen Mhor was known for. This is a rare single malt, silent since 1983.

Description
A 27 year old Glen Mhor from the Glasgow bottler Douglas Laing, distilled in 1982, from cask DL 5420, bottled at 50%, one of 256 bottles. Glen Mhor was a Highland malt distillery, demolished to make way for a supermarket. It was closed in the same cuts that took Glen Albyn, Brora and Banff.
Drawn off the stills into worm tubs for the full, oily Glen Mhor make, for a fruity, oily spirit with real body. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light vanilla over the oily body. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into dried fruit, beeswax and a waxy oil. Most Glen Mhor went to the blenders, a little kept back to mature as single malt. The oily, waxy texture is a mark of well aged Glen Mhor. A 28 year old appeared in Diageo's Rare Malts collection, a glimpse of the lost distillery. The worm tubs gave a full, oily spirit, less copper contact leaving real weight in the make. No more will ever be made, the distillery silent since 1983.
At 50%, undiluted, it is deep and waxy. A full, oily orchard fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a polished oak give it depth. Apple, wax and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a rich, waxy single malt from silent Inverness.
