Description
A 30 year old Glen Keith from the German bottler The Whisky Agency, distilled in 1993, bottled at 51.3%. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt from Keith, the first new Speyside distillery since the 1898 crash. It sits within sight of Strathisla, the oldest distillery in Scotland.
Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for the light, fruity make Glen Keith is known for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. At a great, fragile age oxidation rules, sotolon lending maple and dried fig as beeswax and a tropical fruit linger. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit. Much of the Glen Keith make went to the blenders, a little kept as single malt. The light, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore.
At a hearty 51.3% it carries real weight. Green apple, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Keith, Seagram's experimental Speyside malt.
