Description
The Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage bottled this Glen Keith, a 29 year old, distilled in 1993, from cask 82787, bottled at 51.8%, one of 187 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt made behind Strathisla, mostly for the Chivas blends. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit.
The spirit was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for a light, elegant spirit with a soft malt. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way. Single malt Glen Keith is rare, most of it coming from independent bottlers. Maturation in the racked warehouses at Keith is slow and steady. It was built in 1957 by Seagram on the site of a meal mill, directly behind Strathisla.
Bottled at a cask strength 51.8%, it is rich. Green apple, pear and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Keith, Seagram's experimental Speyside malt.
