Description
This Glen Keith was bottled by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 25 year old, distilled in 1997, from cask 72595, bottled at 50.7%. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt made behind Strathisla, mostly for the Chivas blends. Its first permanent single malt was released in 2017, the Distillery Edition.
The spirit was worked through the tall stills for a light, sweet make, building a light, fruity character of green apple and pear. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. Balloch Hill water and the tall stills give the light Glen Keith make. The light, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. It was Seagram's experimental plant, and still houses the Chivas Brothers lab. Single malt Glen Keith is rare, most of it coming from independent bottlers.
At its natural 50.7% it is concentrated. Green apple, pear and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
