Description
This Glen Keith was bottled by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 24 year old, distilled in 1996, from cask 12, bottled at 58.3%, one of 374 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt from Chivas Brothers, light and sweet in style. It was the first new distillery to open in Speyside since the great whisky crash of 1898.
It was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Keith style, for the light, fruity make Glen Keith is known for. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working into the light malt. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. It was mothballed in 1999 and revived by Pernod Ricard in 2013 after a full refit.
At a hearty 58.3% it carries real weight. A clean, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Pear, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light Speyside single malt from the town of Keith.
