Description
This Glen Keith was bottled by Scotland-and-Malts, a 23 year old, distilled in 1992, from cask 229749, bottled at 51.7%. Glen Keith is a fruity Speyside single malt from the Chivas stable at Keith. Its make went largely into the Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers blends.
It was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, building the fresh Glen Keith style. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. The light, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way.
At its natural 51.7% it is concentrated. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a clean malt sit behind the cask. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is Glen Keith, Seagram's experimental Speyside malt.
