Description
This Glen Keith was bottled by Valinch and Mallet, a 22 year old, distilled in 1998, from cask 7136, bottled at 52.7%, one of 210 bottles. Glen Keith is a light, fruity Speyside malt, built in 1957 as Seagram's experimental distillery. Single malt Glen Keith is rare, most of it coming from independent bottlers.
It was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Keith style. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings tropical fruit, honey and a waxy depth over the apple. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Its first permanent single malt was released in 2017, the Distillery Edition. Much of the Glen Keith make went to the blenders, a little kept as single malt. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way.
At cask strength 52.7% it is full bodied. Green apple, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. Apple, pear and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a clean, fruity Speyside single malt.
