Description
A 22 year old Glen Keith from the bottler Liquid Art, distilled in 1995, bottled at 52.4%, one of 88 bottles. Glen Keith is a fruity Speyside single malt from the Chivas stable at Keith. It was mothballed in 1999 and revived by Pernod Ricard in 2013 after a full refit.
The spirit was made on Balloch Hill water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a light, elegant spirit with a soft malt. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla and a touch of coconut from the lactones. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Keith warehouses. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit.
At cask strength 52.4% it is full bodied. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Keith's clean, fruity Speyside style.
