Description
From the Campbeltown house Cadenhead, an 18 year old Glen Keith, distilled in 1993, bottled at 54.3%, one of 228 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt from Chivas Brothers, light and sweet in style. It was built in 1957 by Seagram on the site of a meal mill, directly behind Strathisla.
It was worked through the tall stills for a light, sweet make, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Keith warehouses. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. The clean, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit.
Bottled at a cask strength 54.3%, it is rich. A clean, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pear, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is a light Speyside single malt from the town of Keith.
