Single malt from The Glasgow Distillery, an independent Finn Thomson bottling, a 5 year old from 2018, drawn from cask 478 and bottled at 56.2%. Only 280 bottles were released. Founded in 2012 by Liam Hughes and Mike Hayward, The Glasgow Distillery Company brought malt whisky back to the city. The 1770 name recalls that original Glasgow distillery, founded in 1770 at Dundashill.

It was distilled twice in copper pot stills for a fruity spirit, building the Fresh and Fruity house style. New oak shaped it, lending vanilla, spice and a little coconut. A young distillery leans on lively wood, the cask shaping much of the flavour. A young distillery, it leans on active wood to bring its whisky to life quickly. It was named Scottish Distillery of the Year in 2020. The make is bright and fruity, a modern, metropolitan take on Lowland malt. Production has grown year on year as demand for Glasgow malt has risen.

At a hearty 56.2% it carries real punch. A fresh, fruity sweetness lead, and the virgin oak gives vanilla, baking spice and a little coconut. It is bright and full, the young spirit shining through. It finishes fresh, fruity and full. This is Glasgow's revived single malt, the 1770.
