Description
Giovanna Tantini is a family estate set between Castelnuovo del Garda and Sona in the Veneto, with 11.5 hectares of vineyards looking onto Lake Garda. The estate works with low intervention in the cellar and close attention in the vineyard, farmed under respectful, sustainable agriculture. This Chiaretto comes from the Bardolino zone and the classic local trio of Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella. The lake acts as a heat store, moderating the climate and lengthening the growing season, while the morainic gravel and clay soils left by ancient glaciers give good drainage and a fresh, mineral lift. Chiaretto is made by short skin contact, drawing just enough colour and red fruit before the juice runs off pale, then fermented and held six months in stainless steel to keep the aromatics primary and the body light. The result is a pale, luminous pink with red cherry and wild strawberry on the nose, a touch of peach and rose, and a clean citrus edge. The palate is dry, light and crisp, with a saline freshness that carries a clean finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
