Freshly ground coffee curls through clean juniper, with hazelnut, dark chocolate and a citrus snap keeping it lively rather than heavy. Inspired by a two-Vespa run across the Alps to Trieste, Italy’s coffee capital, it leans on Omkafe’s Arabica beans. Long and complex, a barista’s daydream.

Description
Caminho do Sul Italia follows Max and Stephan out of Hamburg on a pair of old Vespas, over the Alps to Trieste, the Italian capital of coffee, and on to the Omkafe roastery at Lake Garda. The gin pays homage to Italian coffee culture by marrying the aroma of freshly ground beans with a clean juniper distillate, and the ceramic bottle wears a helmet of coffee beans crowned with the Italian flag. Indonesian Arabica gives the coffee note its depth.
The nose is fine and fresh, juniper threaded with that ground-coffee aroma. The palate brings spicy coriander and cardamom, fresh lemon, then a creamy run of hazelnut and dark chocolate before a long, complex finish. Try it in an espresso-leaning gin cocktail, or over ice with a strip of orange peel to lift the coffee.
