Description
Gelas Santa Rosa 10 Anos is a Panamanian ron in the Spanish style, made from molasses on a column still and carrying a stated ten years in ex-bourbon casks. Panama is best known for soft, mellow rum, much of it flowing from the Varela Hermanos stills, and this bottling fits that mould.
Ex-bourbon ageing in the house style usually brings vanilla, caramel and a light dusting of oak spice over a clean base spirit. At 41.2% it has a fraction more weight than the standard 40% offerings while staying smooth and approachable. Added sugar is not stated, so expect a gently rounded rather than overtly sweet profile.
