Gélas Double Matured Old Rum

Gelas Double Matured Old Rum is a Panamanian ron carrying ten years and the soft, mellow profile typical of the country's molasses-based output. The name points to a second period in wood, a finishing pass meant to add depth on top of the base ageing, in keeping with the Spanish style where the barrel does much of the talking.

Distilled on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it sits on the lighter, fruitier side of the category. The nose is fruity and citrus-led, the palate brings brown sugar and caramel alongside fresh citrus, and a cherry note lingers on the close. At 41.2% it stays gentle and accessible, a rounded, lightly sweet Panama pour for easy sipping or relaxed mixing rather than a heavy, brooding style.
