García Duque makes this young Verdejo in D.O. Rueda, the grape’s heartland in Castilla y León. Unoaked and fresh, it opens with green herbs, fennel and a touch of guava over a subtle white-almond note.

Description
Vinos García Duque is the project of Pilar García Duque in D.O. Rueda, the high central Spanish plateau that is the home of Verdejo. The continental climate here brings warm days and cold nights, and the wide diurnal range preserves the grape's acidity and its distinctive herbal, aniseed aromatics. Poor, stony soils and altitude concentrate the fruit. This is a young, unoaked wine made to show that primary freshness, fermented cool in a neutral vessel to hold the aromatics and bottled early. Verdejo also carries a natural bitter-almond twist on the finish that gives the style its character. The colour is pale straw with a green tint. The nose opens with green herbs and fennel, then green apple, lemon and a touch of guava, softened by a hint of white almond. The palate is light and rounded with medium acidity, dry and fresh, finishing on that typical bitter-almond and stony note. Serve at 9 to 10 degrees in a standard white glass.
