Description
Fuentespina 3 Meses Roble is a young Tempranillo from the D.O. Ribera del Duero in Castilla y Leon, made by Fuentespina from vines more than twenty years old. Ribera del Duero sits high on the northern Meseta, where hot days and cold nights give a wide diurnal range that builds colour and ripe fruit while holding on to acidity and freshness. After maceration on the skins, which draws colour and gentle tannin, and fermentation, the wine rests for three months in American oak. This short stay adds a light frame of vanilla and sweet spice and rounds the edges without covering the fruit, which is the point of a roble style aimed at early drinking. The wine, previously sold as Fuentespina Granate Roble, is fresh and fruit-led, with red berries, cherry and plum, a touch of liquorice and a soft vanilla note from the barrel. The palate is medium bodied and juicy, with soft tannins and a clean finish. Serve at 16 degrees. A versatile red for everyday meals and roast meats.
