Fuckoff Black Vodka

Fuckoff Black takes Krugmann's rebellious house style and gives it a striking look. The spirit is distilled in Italy from grain alcohol and pure spring water, multi-filtered for clarity, then turned deep black with a natural colourant, so the liquid is opaque in the bottle but throws a crystal shine when light catches it. The colouring is cosmetic and does not push the flavour around: this stays a mild, clean grain vodka at 40%, with the colour doing the talking on the bar. The point is theatre, a spirit designed to make a drink look like a statement.

The nose is neutral and subtle with gentle cereal notes, the palate soft and harmonious with a slight sweetness and a touch of spice, and the finish smooth and velvety with a mild warmth. The black colour is the whole idea, so use it where it shows: build a Black Mule by pouring it long over ice with fresh lime and a spicy ginger beer in a clear glass or copper mug, where the dark spirit stains the drink and the ginger's heat plays off the vodka's faint sweetness for a long drink that looks as bold as the bottle.
