Description
Franzi Gebrannte Mandel Likor is a German nut liqueur bottled at 15%, made by the Bremen house Nork, founded in 2016 and known for reinterpreting traditional flavours in a modern way. A limited edition built around the roasted almond, it draws on the sweet, cinnamon character of a fairground roasted almond and the spiced note of the Hamburg Franzbrotchen, so the liqueur reads as a warm, nutty dessert. The roasted almond is the defining ingredient, set against caramel and cinnamon.
The nose is roasted almonds, caramel and cinnamon, the palate roasted almond, cinnamon, marzipan, chocolate and caramel, finishing long on the palate. Behind the bar it works as a nutty sweetener with real body, adding roasted almond, marzipan and a cinnamon edge to a drink, which suits it to an Amaretto Sour style serve, a nutty coffee cocktail or a stir into hot chocolate. It pours neat or over ice as a dessert pour, partners coffee and chocolate desserts, and brings a roasted almond depth to winter drinks. Serve it lightly chilled or at room temperature where the nutty character shows.
