Foursquare Exceptional Cask Sélection XXIX (Mandamus) 2025

Foursquare ECS range XXIX Mandamus is a recent numbered Mark in Richard Seale's celebrated ECS line from Barbados. As with the rest of the range, it is an additive free single blend of double retort pot still and column Coffey distillate, carrying no added sugar, colour or flavour.

Aged 16 years, matured fully in the tropics and finished in port casks before bottling at 57%, Mandamus layers the wine cask influence over the familiar Foursquare core: caramel, coconut, vanilla and chocolate run throughout, wrapped in port driven red fruit, nuts and spice, with cherry and light tobacco on the nose and a woody, caramel finish. The port adds fruit and depth without sweetening the rum, since nothing is dosed. It sits comfortably alongside the strong recent ECS releases, a balanced, drinkable expression that adds a fruity twist to the house style.
