A 10 year old Foursquare from the ECS range, this dry Bajan single blend gains a sherry and port influence over ex-bourbon oak, soft and balanced with vanilla, coconut, dried fruit and grape at 46%.

Description
Premise is Mark VIII in Foursquare's ECS range, the Barbados distillery's run of limited single blends overseen by Richard Seale, a vocal champion of dry, additive-free rum. This is the classic Bajan marriage of double-retort pot still and column rum, a 2008 vintage carried to ten years, given depth by ageing that takes in sherry and port casks alongside ex-bourbon oak.
Bottled unsweetened at a gentle 46%, it shows the softer, rounder side of Foursquare. The nose carries vanilla, coconut, wood and a sherried lift, while the palate brings vanilla, dried fruit, oak and caramel with a grape note from the wine casks, finishing round, oaky and balanced. The sweet-wine casks add fruit and depth without any added sugar, and the moderate strength keeps it easy and approachable. A clean, well-balanced sipper for drinkers building their palate, sitting close to Doorly's 12 or Sagacity but with a sherry-tinged twist.
