Foursquare Doorly‘s 3 Years White

Doorly's 3 Years White is a Foursquare brand, made at the St Philip distillery from the classic Barbados pot-and-column blend, aged three years in ex-bourbon oak then filtered back to a clear spirit and bottled unsweetened at 47%. It is a mixing rum first, carrying the distillery's additive-free ethos in an entry level, cocktail-ready form.

The nose shows coconut, grapes, a touch of nail polish and sweetness, then the palate brings coconut, vanilla, sweetness and fruitcake, closing warm and fruity with a slight burn. Tasters find it a little one-dimensional neat, mostly coconut and vanilla, but pleasant and clean, and it shines as a cocktail base, lifting a daiquiri with its bright Foursquare character. Honesty serves it best, this is a capable, affordable white mixer rather than a sipping rum, and it does that job well.
