Description
Foradori is the reference for Teroldego, the indigenous red of the Piana Rotaliana in Trentino, and Granato is Elisabetta Foradori's flagship wine, drawn from the oldest vines. The grapes grow on the alluvial gravel and sand plains at the foot of the Dolomites, free-draining soils that stress the vines and concentrate the fruit, while cool alpine air and a wide diurnal range keep the aromatics fresh and the acidity high. The estate is farmed biodynamically, and the wine is made naturally and is suitable for vegans. It ages 15 months in large wooden casks, where measured oxygen exchange settles the tannins and builds complexity without overt oak flavour. The colour is deep and saturated. The nose shows wild berry, dark plum and redcurrant over crushed pepper, dried herbs and a stony, mineral note that reflects the gravel soils. The palate is structured and energetic, with firm, fine tannins, bright acidity and a long savoury finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees, decanted ahead, with grilled beef, venison or a hearty mushroom dish.
