Fitzwilliam Irish Blended Whiskey

Fitzwilliam is a blended Irish whiskey label filled at the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth, the independent giant John Teeling opened in 2015 to supply much of modern Irish whiskey. The blend marries the distillery's own pot and column spirit, a no age statement bottling put together for the German market.

The cask bill is more adventurous than the 40% strength suggests. American oak provides the toffee and vanilla backbone, rye casks add a peppery grain spice, and imperial stout casks bring the dark chocolate and roasted coffee notes that beer wood reliably gives Irish whiskey. The result is an easy drinking blend with more edges than most young Irish whiskeys at its strength, the stout and rye seasoning giving it something to say.
