Fischer-Geist Liqueur

Fischer-Geist is a German herbal liqueur bottled at a high 56% by Waldemar Behn, made from a distinctive blend of hand picked herbs, spices and fruits and produced through a complex distillation. Known as a burning herbal liqueur, it carries a tradition of being served in a ceramic jug, lit and left to flame for around a minute to intensify the aromas before drinking. The high strength and the herb and fruit blend give it a deep, intense flavour that moves between sweet and spicy.

The nose is strongly herbal with a subtle fruitiness and a spicy depth, the palate intense with a distinct blend of herbs and spices, a light sweetness and a freshness, finishing long with a warm spiciness and a gentle herbal aftertaste. Behind the bar its strength and herbal intensity make it an assertive modifier, adding herbal depth and warm spice to a drink, and a small measure carries far. It can be served neat or on ice, brings a herbal edge to a sour or a Mai Tai riff, and the strength suits the traditional flamed serve. Serve it with care given the high proof.
