Description
Fins Als Kullons is a natural red from Finca Parera, the family estate that Rubén Parera and his father Jordi farm organically near the Penedès. The land has been certified biodynamic since 2015 and carries almond, olive and cherry trees alongside the vines. The blend is unusual, leading with the white grapes Xarel·lo and Garnacha Blanca alongside the dark Catalan variety Sumoll, vinified together to give a pale, light-bodied red rather than a deep one. Penedès sits between the coast and the inland hills, where limestone and clay soils and a Mediterranean climate tempered by sea breezes keep the fruit fresh. Made with minimal intervention, fermentation runs on native yeast with no oak, so the wine stays transparent and direct. It is unfined and unfiltered. Expect a light ruby colour, a nose of red berries, red currant and thyme, and a palate of cherry and rhubarb with gentle grip, brisk acidity and a faintly briny, earthy finish. Serve cool at 13 to 14 degrees. It works with charcuterie, roast chicken and tomato salads.
