Finglassie 2020 KCC (Keeble Cask Company Ltd.)

Finglassie is the name InchDairnie uses for the peated single malt it releases through independent bottlers, the smoky counterpart to its unpeated Strathenry trade malt. Keeble Cask Company Ltd. bottled this 2020 vintage at 4 years old. This single cask, number 726, yielded 253 bottles, released for Europe.

The Fife distillery runs one of only two mash filters in Scotch production and distils through a custom Lomond Hill still, a pot still with six bubble cap plates in its neck for high reflux. This is the distillery's peated spirit, so smoke sits over the young Fife malt. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 59.8%, without dilution, the ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for a light toffee sweetness. The peat phenols, guaiacol chief among them, read as smoke, with a faint medicinal lift. The spirit is young, yet the peat carries it to a long, smoky finish.
