Description
Bodegas Torremilanos lies in Ribera del Duero, south of Burgos in Castilla y León, and farms biodynamically. El Porrón de Lara is a single variety Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto Fino, made in a fresh, early drinking style. Ribera del Duero sits on a high plateau, and its altitude brings cold nights that preserve acidity and colour, while the chalky clay and limestone soils give the grape structure and depth. The 2024 vintage is bottled young to keep its fruit vivid. The wine is aged around eleven to twelve months in used French oak, where the seasoned barrels allow gentle oxygen exchange to soften the tannins without adding heavy oak flavour, leaving the fruit in front. The colour is a deep ruby with purple edges. The nose shows ripe cherry, plum and red berries over earth and a little spice. The palate is medium bodied, with fresh acidity, ripe but present tannin and a clean savoury finish. Serve at 16 degrees, with roast lamb, grilled beef or mushroom dishes.
