Description
Edetària sits at a strategic point on the old Roman Via Edetana in Terra Alta, the warm inland corner of Catalonia that Joan Àngel Lliberia has worked to champion alongside its neighbour Priorat. Garnacha Blanca is the region's signature white grape, and here it comes from old vines on the appellation's stony soils. The Mediterranean climate ripens the fruit fully, which gives the wine its 14% alcohol and generous body, while cooler nights help retain freshness and aromatic definition. Fermentation is followed by eight months in French oak barrels, where slow oxygen exchange through the wood softens the texture and adds a fine spice and almond character without masking the grape. The wine is deep straw in colour. The nose leads with white peach and ripe pear, backed by beeswax, orange peel and a light vanilla note from the barrel. The palate is broad and textured, with honeyed weight balanced by savoury almond and a saline, dry finish typical of Terra Alta. Serve it at 10 to 12 degrees in a full white glass.

Additional information
Serve with roast pork loin or herb-roasted chicken, where its weight and oak spice match the meat. The white peach and almond character also works with grilled hake or monkfish in a light sauce, and it holds its own against aged Manchego and other hard sheep's cheeses.
