Finca La Estacada Selección Varietales blends Tempranillo with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah from Castilla La Mancha. Aged 18 months in American and French oak then seven in bottle, it shows ripe dark fruit, toast and a firm, structured frame.
Description
Finca La Estacada Selección Varietales is a Vino de la Tierra de Castilla red made by Finca la Estacada from a blend led by Tempranillo with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards lie near Cuenca on the high La Mancha plateau, where a continental Mediterranean climate brings an average temperature of 12 to 16 degrees and a wide swing between hot days and cold nights. That diurnal range lets the fruit ripen fully while holding acidity and building colour and aromatic depth, which suits the late-ripening Tempranillo and the structure-giving Cabernet. The wine is aged 18 months in American and French oak, the American barrels adding sweet vanilla and coconut while the French add tighter spice and grip, followed by a further seven months in bottle to integrate the tannins before release. The colour is deep ruby. The nose carries ripe plum and black cherry, toast, vanilla and a tobacco note from the wood. The palate is full and structured, the tannins firm but resolving, with cocoa and oak spice on a long finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees, decanted. Built for roast and grilled red meat.
