Description
Finca La Estacada works in D.O. Uclés in Castilla La Mancha, with the winery sited in the village of Tarancón. This is a varietal Tempranillo drawn from estate vineyards averaging 25 years of age, planted across 278 hectares. The local climate is mild, with average temperatures between 12 and 16 degrees, conditions that let the grapes ripen steadily while keeping freshness in the fruit. Winemaking is traditional. Fermentation runs in stainless steel tanks to preserve the bright primary fruit, after which the wine is matured for six months in a mix of French and American oak. The American oak rounds the texture and lends sweet vanilla and coconut tones, while the French oak adds finer spice and a measure of structure. The result is a youthful ruby red. The nose leads with ripe cherry and plum over red berries, backed by vanilla and a light wood spice. The palate is medium bodied with supple tannins and a clean, savoury finish. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees in a standard red glass. It suits roast lamb, grilled beef and aged Manchego.
