Finca La Colina is Vinos Sanz’s Rueda Sauvignon Blanc from La Seca. The winery has backed the region’s white grapes since 1870, and this bottling is fresh and vivacious, with citrus, green apple and the grassy, herbal lift the grape is known for.
Description
Vinos Sanz is the oldest winery in the D.O. Rueda, based in La Seca. The Donatos family put its faith in the region's white grapes as early as 1870, long before the appellation was created in 1980, and this Sauvignon Blanc from the Finca La Colina site continues that focus. Rueda's continental climate brings hot dry summers and cold winters, and the wide difference between daytime and night time temperatures preserves the sharp acidity and aromatic intensity Sauvignon Blanc needs. Picking is timed to keep that freshness, and the fruit is fermented in stainless steel at low temperature to protect the volatile aromatics and keep the wine crisp and primary. It is pale yellow and bright. The nose is intense and delightful, with elderflower and citrus over green apple, white peach and a grassy, herbal lift that is true to the variety. The palate is fresh and vivacious, with lemon, a light herbal edge and a clean, dry finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It works as an aperitif and alongside shellfish, white fish and fresh salads. This wine is vegan.
