Description
Figuière is run by the Combard family in La Londe-les-Maures, between Toulon and Saint-Tropez in Provence, with 45 hectares of vines on 70 hectares of land. The family farms organically and is known above all for rosé, the signature style of the region. Cuvée Magali blends Cinsault, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha tinta in the Côtes de Provence. The coastal vineyards sit on schist and clay-limestone soils, with the Mediterranean and the mistral keeping the fruit healthy in a warm, dry climate. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented cool in stainless steel to extract very little colour while keeping ripe aromatics, the balance every serious Provence rosé chases. There is no oak, so the wine stays bright and primary. The colour is pale salmon pink. The nose shows red berries, white peach and citrus peel with white flowers and a light herbal note from the surrounding garrigue. The palate is dry and crisp, with red fruit and melon carried by fresh acidity to a clean, savoury finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
