The bottler Edition Spirits bottled this Fettercairn, a 16 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask HL 21245, bottled at 56.9%, one of 360 bottles. Fettercairn is a Highland single malt shaped by the unique cooling rings on its stills. It has been owned by Whyte and Mackay since 1973.

It was made on mountain water with the stills drenched in cold water, for the tropical, fruity make Fettercairn is known for. Maturation came in an Oloroso cask, layered over the tropical Fettercairn make. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the tropical fruit turning honeyed and a roasted coffee creeping in. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Its water comes from springs in the Grampian and Cairngorm mountains above the distillery. In 2018 the distillery relaunched with a new core range under maker Gregg Glass.

At cask strength 56.9% it is full bodied. Tropical fruit, vanilla and a soft spice, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The mouthfeel is clean, the fruit carried on a light body. Citrus, fruit and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a tropical Highland malt from the foot of the mountains.
