Description
This Fettercairn was bottled by the Glasgow bottler Hunter Laing, a 14 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask HL 19616, bottled at 50%, one of 294 bottles. Fettercairn is a Highland single malt from Whyte and Mackay, known for pineapple and tropical fruit. In 2018 the distillery relaunched with a new core range under maker Gregg Glass.
Drawn off the stills, the cooling rings raising reflux for a fruity spirit, for the tropical, fruity make Fettercairn is known for. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla to the fruit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the tropical, fruity spirit growing rounder. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the tropical fruit growing richer with time. Refill oak lets the light, tropical Fettercairn character lead the way. Mountain spring water and the cooling rings give the tropical Fettercairn make.
At its natural 50% it is concentrated. Pineapple, mango and a gentle honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fruity and tropical, the light spirit shining through. The close is light and warming, fruit over a gentle oak. This is Fettercairn, one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries.
