A Fettercairn of a 12 year old chosen by the Campbeltown house Cadenhead, distilled in 2007, bottled at 51.1%. Fettercairn is a fruity Highland single malt made at one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries, founded in 1824. Its make matures on site in dunnage warehouses, around thirty two thousand casks in all.

It was distilled slow and light for the tropical Fettercairn style, for the tropical, fruity make Fettercairn is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the American oak letting the fruit lead. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the tropical, fruity spirit growing rounder. Refill oak lets the light, tropical Fettercairn character lead the way. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Highland spirit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its pineapple and citrus.

At 51.1%, undiluted, it is deep and tropical. Tropical fruit, vanilla and a soft spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is clean, the fruit carried on a light body. The finish runs long, tropical and warming. This is the light, fruit driven malt of Fettercairn.
