From the Campbeltown house Cadenhead, an 11 year old Fettercairn, distilled in 2007, bottled at 56.7%. Fettercairn is a Highland single malt from the foot of the Cairngorms in Aberdeenshire, known for its tropical fruit style. It uses unpeated malt and matures mostly in American oak ex-Bourbon casks.

Run through the water cooled stills for a light, tropical make, for the tropical, fruity make Fettercairn is known for. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the fruity spirit. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the pineapple deepening to a mango. The cool Highland air of the Mearns gives a slow, even maturation in the dunnage warehouses. Long ageing turns the fresh tropical fruit towards dried mango, coffee and a soft spice. Its stills carry unique cooling rings, copper tubes that drench them in cold mountain water.

Bottled at a cask strength 56.7%, it is rich. Tropical fruit, vanilla and a soft spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Mango, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. Citrus, fruit and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a light, tropical Highland single malt.
