A cask-strength Jamaican double-matured in ex-Rasteau sweet-wine casks, wine-soaked and fruity with red fruit, apricot and quince over young oak, bottled by Ferroni at 60.5% in dry, Provence-finished style.
Description
Ferroni Brut de Fût is a craft cask-strength Jamaican from the Marseille house known for double-maturing rum in Provence in ex-sweet-wine casks. This bottling finished in ex-Rasteau casks, the southern French fortified wine lending a distinct red-fruited, vinous overlay to the island spirit.
The nose is marked by wine, fruity and red-fruit notes with a spicy edge, and the palate carries apricot, woody depth and red fruits alongside that clear Rasteau influence. The finish stays fruity with a young-wood note. Bottled at 60.5% and unsweetened in Ferroni's dry, full-proof tradition, it is more alcoholic and assertive than some of its stablemates but stays balanced, with a generous dose of red fruit and quince. A characterful wine-finished Jamaican for drinkers who enjoy seeing how a sweet-wine cask reshapes the island profile without resorting to added sugar.
