Description
Ferrand Dry Curacao Yuzu is an orange liqueur made by Maison Ferrand in France to an old recipe from the 19th century, with whole yuzu, the East Asian citrus prized in Japanese cooking, soaked in brandy for a week. The macerate is distilled in Ferrand copper stills, infused with spices and fruit, matured for several months and finished with a little bourbon vanilla and brandy to harmonise the flavours, bottled at 40%.
The nose is spicy and floral with yuzu, mandarin, vanilla, marzipan and mint, the palate carrying candied citrus, tropical fruit, almond, toffee and tea, closing long on citrus and vanilla. Behind the bar that bright, complex citrus is its strength: it adds zesty yuzu lift, aromatic depth and a dry orange flavour that brightens a drink. It shines in citrus forward cocktails where its lively character comes through, lifting a margarita, a sidecar or a sour. Reach for it when a drink wants orange with a yuzu twist.
