Feller Rumreich PX Sherry Cask

Feller Rumreich PX Sherry Cask is part of the German distillery's rum range, a molasses based spirit given a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask treatment and bottled at a natural 46.2%. Feller works in the modern European style, taking a clean house distillate and letting the cask do much of the talking.

Here the PX influence stays measured rather than smothering, lending sherried sweetness, molasses and dried fruit alongside a faintly peaty, vanilla edged aroma. The palate is woody and savoury, sherry and caramel over the molasses base, before a finish of allspice, black pepper and dried fruit. It is a tidy, well built dram where the wine cask adds spice and depth without tipping into syrup, a satisfying after dinner pour for those who like their rum on the drier, more spice driven side of a sherry finish.
