Fazenda Agrícola Augalevada makes this biodynamic red from native Galician grapes in D.O. Ribeiro. Made without oak, it is a fresh, light Atlantic red with red berry, cherry and a stony, herbal edge.
Description
Fazenda Agrícola Augalevada is the Galician project of Liliana Fernández and Iago Garrido, rooted in the local furancho tradition of homemade wine served with simple food, and farmed biodynamically. The estate sits in D.O. Ribeiro in inland Galicia, where the cool, wet Atlantic climate and granite based soils give red wines a lighter frame, high acidity and a marked freshness rather than weight or power. Número Dous is made from native red varieties and sees no oak, a choice that keeps the fruit primary and the texture pure, with native yeast fermentation and gentle handling in keeping with the low intervention approach. The wine is bright ruby, with aromas of red berries, cherry and rhubarb over a stony, herbal minerality. The palate is light bodied and fresh at 13 percent, with low tannin, crisp acidity and a clean, mineral finish that reflects the granite soils and damp Atlantic setting. This is a juicy, food friendly red made to be drunk young and slightly cool. Serve at 13 to 15 degrees. It suits lighter meats, charcuterie and even oily fish.
